Save BNR Radio Bulgaria on shortwave and medium wave

Dear listeners and friends of shortwave and Radio Bulgaria, With a huge regret I’d like to inform you very bad news.
After more than 75 years in the world broadcasting from January 31, 2012 at 2200UT Radio Bulgaria cease broadcasting on shortwave and medium wave.
The shortwave transmitters in Kostinbrod & Padarsko will be destroyed in the next few months.
Radio Bulgaria is not necessary now to its shortwave and medium waves listeners.

The reason

No money for broadcasting on shortwave and medium waves. And who listens to short waves today?
We have internet. Maintaining the shortwave transmitters was “Mission Impossible”! Hope dies last.
As a frequency manager in the last 19 years my main task was to provide best quality signal of Radio Bulgaria in worldwide coverage.
There will be no shortwave, there will be no frequency manager. For all people who work in Radio Bulgaria that bad news is shock and horror. Beginning of the end. But we expect your moral support.

SAQ ci riprova il 10 Gennaio

Dopo la triste vigilia di Natale senza SAQ, da Grimeton annunciano che

Extra test transmission on Tuesday 10th January
We believe that we have found the trouble with the alternator on Christmas Eve and put it right.
Probably we may use the antenna for a short while on Tuesday 10th January, so we are planning a test transmission at 13:30 UTC on 17.2 kHz CW.
No message will be sent, we just send the test sequence VVV DE SAQ.
We plan to be on air for half an hour, to give an opportunity to our listeners to test their equipment.
Listeners’ reports will not be confirmed by QSL cards.

The problem with SAQ on Christmas Eve
The reason for the trouble with SAQ on Chrismas Eve was most probably a damaged fuse in the excitation circuit for the 500 V rectifier.
The fuse was not completely blown but measured a very high resistance (150 ohm).
When we lost the excitation current to the DC generator, we also lost the control current to the choke coils in the conductors to the main motor, and thereby the speed control of the alternator.
It was confusing that the problem occured exactly when we connected the running alternator to the antenna.
We were actually on air a few seconds with decreasing frequency until the antenna was disconnected by the protection circuit in the speed control.

Radiorama cartaceo finisce ma rinasce scaricabile in PDF e consultabile online.
Questa e’ la prima e piu’ importante delle novita’ legate all’A.I.R. – Associazione Italiana Radioascolto che continua pero’ ad essere presente online su Facebook e nella mailing list se iscritti all’associazione e non dimentichiamo il blog aperto a tutti.

Altra novita’ e’ la riduzione del canone d’iscrizione che passa a 19.90 euro pagabili anche tramite PayPal oltre al consueto bonifico o bollettino postale.

IBF da Torre Bert

In molti sapranno ormai delle trasmissioni commemorative di “IBF” da Torre Bert in quel di Torino ma ritengo sia un evento che merita spazio su queste pagine.
Non ripetero’ informazioni che si trovano ampiamente in rete e che riportero’ in fondo al post ma riassumendo cio’ che si celebra e’ l’inaugurazione del “Laboratorio di ricerca sperimentale su energie rinnovabili e telecomunicazioni” che proprio dalla storica Torre Bert dalla quale i fratelli Judica Cordiglia negli anni sessanta hanno fatto parlare di se’ nel mondo intero coi loro ascolti.

Ebbene, riattivata la torre per l’evento, in data 11-11-2011 alle ore 09.50 UTC e’ avvenuta la prima ritrasmissione dell’identificativo “IBF” della stazione tempo, multilingue e preceduto dal CW della sigla.
Niente da fare per me in quella data, ma oggi 13-11-2011 alle ore 19.40 locali sono riuscito ad ascoltare e registrare la trasmissione per quanto molto disturbata.

VLF in gran spolvero stasera!
Dopo una bella segnalazione di Alessandro Roma sul gruppo Facebook VLF Italia, dedico qualche ora alle VLF, mai dimenticate ma solo accantonate per un po’.
Alessandro pubblica una serie di foto micidiali con un CW chiaro come su carta stampata e una decodifica del testo non del contenuto, inequivocabile.
Pare che la propagazione sia straordinaria, accendo tutto il baraccone e si, la propagazione e’ straordinaria davvero!
